October Pixel Scrapper Blog Train

Our non-stop heat has finally stopped.  October is here in all of its colorful glory and a definite "bewitching" temperature drop.  Last week, I was wearing sleeveless tops as I headed out to the stables each morning to take care of my horses.  This week?  I'm back to long-sleeved fleece and a jacket to boot.  We'll probably get an "Indian Summer" in here yet before these colorful leaves go flying in the breeze and any moisture from the sky comes down as snow.  We can only hope :)

Fan Freebie --

Halloween is absolutely my favorite holiday.  It's just fun.  The kids love dressing up in costumes of their choice, Trick or Treating, picking out pumpkins and creating Jack O Lanterns.  Of course, we raised our children in small towns where everyone was on the same page, keeping it fun.  Every year, my grandchildren spend an afternoon here decorating pumpkin cookies with candy eyes and noses, and candy corn mouths.  And then we get to eat them!

The Boo Update --

Boo will be 2 years old already in just a couple weeks.  Party hats are always fun :)  He's watching TV with me from the top perch of his tree house.  Although...he pays more attention to commercials selling cat food :)

We had a black cat Panther, on Halloween he sat on an orange pillow on dads lap at the entry. It was eerily dark so he put a flash light under his shirt aimed at his face and it cast a spooky look to his features. We had a witch with a black cauldron with dry ice for a misty effect. We stuffed dads clothes with newspapers and a hat to form a dead old man on a chair wrapped in spider webs. The walkway had wooden tombstones with our friends names on them. When the kids got up to dad for their treat (back then everyone gave out full size candy bars that cost 5 cents)Dad would introduce them to his mother, pointing at the casket with a skeleton dressed in torn flimsy material. Dad tied a string on one hand and wove it around furniture until it reached him. When the kids turned to see his "mother' he pulled the string and the hand reached out. Screams galore and then laughter but sometimes it scared the little ones too much and they would run dropping their sacks of candy. Of course we had to go after them and bring their candy back to them. It was fun and the parents loved it. On year my brother was in the service and we sent a pillow case full of candy we 'trick or treated' for, he and his buddies didn't care if Halloween was a little late. Yum!!! I say all this to give some ideas for those who like to decorate and play some fun scary tricks. BOO needs an orange pillow to show himself off! Thank you as always for your wonderful gift to us...Cynthia S
